Ford Mondeo Honoured by What Car?
Really? Again? The Ford Mondeo has picked-up two more prestigious accolades at the 2012 What Car? Awards.
Really? Again? The Ford Mondeo has picked-up two more prestigious accolades at the
2012 What Car? Awards. So for the second year this workhorse has been named
the 'UK's Best Family Car' and the 'Best Estate Car'. The prize winning models are the 1.6
TDCi 115PS Zetec and the 2.0 TDCi 140PS Zetec, respectively. The Mondeo range was
also honoured by What Car? in 2009, so its ego is now larger than its huge trophy cabinet.
Chas Hallett, What Car? Editor-in-Chief, said: "The Ford Mondeo has plenty of fresh rivals,
but its such a strong package that it picks up two more awards this year, for best estate
car and top family car. Ford has worked hard to keep the Mondeo refreshed and it has
succeeded this is still a great all-round package, either as a hatchback or an estate."
The Ford Mondeo has always been a tremendous workhorse.
Even the original version
from the early nineties set new standards for the time. The current generation has rock-
solid handling, excellent safety features, and in estate guise enough room to carry
most of its trophies. Maximum cargo capacity is 1,728-litres, making it one of the most
spacious in its class. Running costs are impressive too, so the 1.6 TDCi averages
65.7mpg. No wonder this car is the one to beat. New Ford Mondeo prices start at £17,795.
