Big estate cars have come a long way from their utilitarian roots and BMW's 525 SE Touring is a good example of just how far. Steve Walker reports.Ten Second Review
Think of all that's good about BMW's class-conquering 5 Series saloon, then simply add space. On paper, it should be the perfect estate car. Air suspension at the rear increases composure with a big load onboard and you'll be able to fit one in thanks to a 560-litre capacity. Fitted with BMW's super-frugal 218bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine, pace and parsimony go hand in hand and the styling is unusually elegant for a load-lugger.
